Prospective singers are expected to have some choral experience and to be able to read music to some extent.
The choir sings in a variety of languages including English, Latin, French, Spanish, and German.
There are two sessions: one starting in September leading to the Christmas concert, usually early in December; and one starting in January leading to the spring concert usually in May. Before each concert there is an all day workshop scheduled with a guest clinician, for further learning and fun.
Three weeks before concert time, extra Wednesday morning rehearsals are scheduled.
Accompanist, Dorothy Rice, makes practice CDs for everyone. It is expected that singers learn their notes before rehearsal.
Rehearsals start at 9:15am with a meet and greet, singing begins at 9:30am and goes until 11:30am.
The dress rehearsal is usually the day before the concert and is mandatory.
There is a thriving executive committee that is responsible for keeping the choir running smoothly. Executive positions are music librarian, promotion and marketing, treasurer, secretary, and social convener. These positions are filled with volunteers from the choir and the singers are encouraged to help by offering their services.
The choir fee is $80.00 per session. This fee goes toward buying music for the library, renting rehearsal space, hiring musicians, guest clinicians at the workshop, and the director and accompanist
