BEGONE, DULL CARE!

A Concert for Spring

On Saturday, April 25, the Monday Morning Singers performs Benjamin Britten’s Missa Brevis and Friday Afternoons, with organist, Ian Sadler and soprano soloist, Grace Rogers. The choir also presents music by Vivaldi, Pergolesi, Vaughan Williams, and Sirett.

Ian Sadler

Ian Sadler is an award winning musician, educated in England, and living in Canada since 1980. He is a fellow of the Royal Canadian College of Organists. He is also Acting Organist and Director of Music at St Paul’s Cathedral in London, Ontario. He performs widely as a concert organist, in Canada and abroad. Ian Sadler directs the Stratford Concert Choir and is founder and director of The Cathedral Singers of Ontario.

Grace Rogers

Grace Rogers is the guest soprano soloist for the spring concert, Begone, Dull Care! Grace has performed with the Monday Morning Singers several times, as well as with many other choirs. Grace Rogers studied at the University of Toronto and York University where she completed her BFA in Music and is currently completing a Masters degree in performance and music therapy.

Sybil Shanahan

Canadian cellist Sybil Shanahan is primarily a chamber musician who completed her professional training in Europe.  Her playing has been released on several CD’s to date, and she maintains a private cello studio in Toronto.  A member of the genre-diverse Ensemble Vivant since 2010, Sybil also runs her own event music business, called Beaux Strings. She has been faculty at Canada’s Lake Field Music Camp since 2010.

Kenneth Welsh

Kenneth Welsh is an acclaimed actor who has appeared in many movies, television series and theatre both in Canada and abroad. Over the years, Monday Morning Singers have enjoyed the story telling, readings and acting of Kenneth Welsh. December 1, 2019 Kennneth again joins the Monday Morning Singers reading the part of the Narrator in Sarah Quartel’s Snow Angel.

Darby Butcher

Darby Butcher is a precocious 9-year old who has dreams of working in the arts and with animals. Darby is a voice-over actor as well as an on-screen talent. She was recently the lead in “A Fistful of Molars” which was an official selection at 10 film festivals and won Best Mini Short at the Upstate New York Horror Fest. Darby joins Monday Morning Singers in Snow Angel reading the part of a Young Narrator.

Imogen Butcher

Imogen Butcher is a 14-year old artist, who secured a spot in her school’s Media Arts Program, on her path to becoming an animator. Imogen is a voracious reader and writer and is a self-taught ukulele player. She is currently in her second year of singing lessons and will be performing with her Grandmother in Snow Angel, reading the part of a Young Narrator.

Dan Simmons

Dan Simmons received a Bachelor of Music in percussion performance from Queen's University in the spring of 2007, and a Bachelor of Education from Nipissing University in the spring of 2009. He is currently teaching instrumental music at the elementary level for the Durham District School Board, and plays guitar and piano for various groups in the Toronto area. Dan and his wife Amanda are happily raising their two children in Whitby.
